It's a One Day Wonder!

Yokey Dokey

I've just pieced together some back yokes that I've been saving up for a while, I just need to back it to make it into a little throw or rug, I think I'll use some corduroy or maybe some..... denim!

Thimblemania!

Whenever I do a lot of hand-sewing I end up with a very sore finger with hard skin and lots of little holes from the needle digging into the tip of my finger - ouch! But today I had a break through, I persevered with using a thimble and with lots of support from my friend Bev (Ta) and her thimble (ta again!) I'm now able to sew without pain and blood spots on my work!

Toys For Girls and Boys!

I took part in a fete on Saturday in Dalston

I took along some of my bears and these rag dolls that I made a while back. A lovely lady showed interest in them and told me about a great organisation called People in Harmony, check out http://www.pih.org.uk/ it's a 'positive, interracial anti-racist' voluntary, charitable organisation - Thanks Molly!

Here are some jean pocket linings that I unpicked, I really like the different blues and the softness of the well worn fabric - mmmmmmm!

Pocket Lining Bears

I made these two fellas using pocket linings for their bodies and old leather buttons for their limb joints. I'm not sure about the ears and their eyes make them look a bit alien like - even so I welcome them to the fold!

More Work in Progress

Ahead Of The Game

Off with their heads! Well they actually haven't had their heads put on as yet, but I'm getting there. I'm working on a middle sized jointed bear - my family were freaked out by the last 'Teddy Long Legs' bears that I made - Pah!

I love this little cushion one of our daughters made for the doll's house. The doll's house had to be dismantled to make way for their teenager's room. I held on to this little gem and use it for my pins.

Paws For Thought

Here's the latest of my bear creations, he's fully jointed, he can do the splits and yes even his head can do a complete twirl - what skills!

I've started joining together my waistband collection, not quite sure what to do with them yet, but I'll let you know when I do!

Rolls and Blocks

I joined denim scraps/ hems/seams together to make these rolls of denim, preparation for creating some patchwork.

I've started making log-cabin style patchwork blocks, this is the first - just a few more to go and I'll have a throw or quilt!

I went to Whitechapel market and found this old wool, I really like the type on the label, I think it's called Pro - Fill.

Finished Unfinished Knitting

Rummaging around in my drawers I found some unfinished knitting. I actually got around to finishing these bears yesterday and managed to give these bears faces too!

I made this fellow for a little girl I taught at nursery school, she's no longer little now, infact she'll be off to secondary school next year which makes me feel ancient!

Hi! I thought I'd join in with you people out there. I'm working on some Christmas ideas, here are some of my Angel Bears, I thought they could look good at home hanging on a Christmas Tree or dangling from a door knob.
